Rock Climbing

There’s never just one “right” answer in rock climbing. The endless variation of rock walls means that there are just as many ways to scale them! Natural crags abound in Western Mass and we know all the best spots. Before heading up a rock face, we teach participants about safety protocols, equipment use, and basic climbing techniques. We then clamber up the ledges and slabs of a variety of cliffs, choosing a climbing area that matches your groups’ age and ability. Sometimes on our way to the site, we also explore the nooks and crannies of local rubble caves. Climbers wear helmets and are secured with a top rope belay at all times. At day’s end, we help participants relate this experience of risk, triumph, frustration, and excitement to life off the rocks. A day of rock climbing is just the thing to help participants overcome fears, gain self-confidence, learn to trust themselves and their belayer, and practice giving support to others.
